I’m a secret fan of manifesting. Shocking, I know. I’m a secret fan of manifesting. Shocking, I know. But bear with me…

Most therapists won’t touch it. It gets lumped in with asking the universe for a parking space and burning incense at your altar. And honestly, I get why people are sceptical.

But I say that as someone who spent years dismissing it before I fully understood the science behind it.

Here’s the thing that stops people in their tracks when I explain this. If you have High Functioning Anxiety, you’re already manifesting every single day. You’ve probably been doing it for years. 

You’re just doing it in completely the wrong direction.

Your brain can’t tell the difference between imagination and reality. So every worst-case scenario you rehearse at 2am, every “what if I fail, what if I say the wrong thing, what if it all goes wrong,” your brain is treating that as a real event. It’s preparing for it. It’s living it. That’s manifesting.

You haven’t got a negative mind. You’ve got an incredibly powerful imagination that anxiety has hijacked.

And that’s actually brilliant news. Because if your brain is already this good at it, imagine what happens when you redirect your thoughts towards what you actually want.

That’s all manifesting is. Intentionally training your brain to focus on the outcome you want rather than the one you fear. Giving it a destination instead of letting anxiety choose one for you.

The one thing I’ll always add is this. Manifesting without action is just wishful thinking. You need the vision and then start taking the steps towards it. Both matter.

Your brain is already working incredibly hard. But you can give it better instructions.
