Phobias

Phobia (4 sessions including the Initial Consultation)

“A phobia is an overwhelming and debilitating fear of an object, place, situation, feeling or animal.
Phobias are more pronounced than fears. They develop when a person has an exaggerated or unrealistic sense of danger about a situation or object.
If a phobia becomes very severe, a person may organise their life around avoiding the thing that’s causing them anxiety. As well as restricting their day-to-day life, it can also cause a lot of distress.” (NHS, 2018)

Phobias can be triggered by actual or imagined events, items or activities. These can cause the fight or flight response to kick in. Unfortunately, the more times we experience a phobic response, the stronger it gets. The stronger the phobic response, the more likely we are to experience it happening again.

The good news is that Solution Focused Hypnotherapy can often help most simple phobias within just 4 sessions.

How the process works in 4 sessions:
  1. Initial ConsultationExplanation of what is happening in our brain when we suffer from a specific phobia. The process of trance and its effects are explained and I will give you a copy of my Relaxation Track to take away with you which will help get you started straight away.
  2. Pre-wind Session  A relaxing session of hypnosis. The familiarisation of the process and how it feels encourages the trance state and aids its efficiency.
  3. Rewind In a safe and controlled hypnotic state, the memory of the traumatic event is explored. This process de-sensitises the event and vastly reduces the inappropriate response.
  4. Reframe This is when we introduce a new and appropriate response pattern. We are going to introduce a new calm and controlled frame of reference.
The sessions usually last about an hour, although you should allow a little longer for session 1 and 4.

In only four sessions you will feel stronger, more confident and ready to achieve your goal.
